Lands End to John O'Groats August 2011
On August 23 forty-somethings Richard Ellis, Jim Pendrill, Graham Taylor and Nigel Britton are setting out to cycle the length of Britain in just 9 days to show they're not quite over the hill yet - and raise loads of money for Prostate Cancer.
Day 1: Captain Incredible & Big Ring Nigel launched an attack on Gethin Butler's record straight out of the trap and set off at a blistering pace. We cover the 1st 9 miles in 30 minutes, an everage speed of about 18 miles per hour. Took our 1st wrong turn at 12 miles but back on track and sat outside the pub eating chocolate digestives and drinking coffee.
ReplyDeleteIs there going to be a 'Guess Dickies weight loss/gain' competition....
ReplyDeleteCrate of Guiness for the winner - hurrah!!
humm one wrong turn in the first hour... could be back at LE before the day is out!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good idea Guiness Girl! Dickie can buy the prize.... What is your guess to start the competition off?
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one Pastry girl...I saw what his carbo loading consisted of over the final weekend and have you seen the size of his pudding!!
ReplyDeleteI have seen the size of his pudding and so I am going to go for a weight gain of 2 lbs. Or do I need to go all modern and guess in kg?
ReplyDeleteI was thinking along those lines myself, but I'm going to be kind and say a loss of 1kg...or 2.2lbs in old money.
ReplyDeleteThink portion control Dickie...remember, less is more!!
I'm aiming for a 2000 calorie deficit per day which would be 20,000 over the 10 days. Divide by 9 = 2,100 grammes of fat or about 4 and a half pounds.
